My wife and I found our first geocache while hiking in the Blue Hills of Wisconsin. I've heard of geocaching and own a GPS but have never looked for one before. Now that I've found one, I have a great interest in finding others. We followed the creek down to "Devil's Kettle." Got lots of pictures. The kettle was full and the waterfalls were really flowing. Appreciated looking at your photos.

Those were taken with an old Kodak 3.2 MP. The battery compartment is broken and held in place with duct tape:)
Good for hiking.
There was great sky and sun that day so the images were pretty clear.

Well, it looks like the grand kids are coming over this weekend so my caching adventures will have to be put on the back burner. With only 7 caches to go, we will still be able to meet the goal it will just be later rather than the end of Sept.

Life's journeys should always be the focus of joy, don't you think? :)

As the end of the month approaches I expect you will achieve your goal. I hope that the journey has offered as much joy as the destination. I think that could be the point.
I wish you success.

I may only have 3 hides so far, but I have a few more planned by the end of summer. All of them require a bit of hiking but are worth the trip for more than a cache find.

I feel that taking the time to find the right spot and hiding place far out weighs having a high find count.

You're missing the point. We all dislike thoughtless caches, but that's easy to say. Actions speak loader than words, and the answer is to place good caches - not just leave it up to everyone else.
I too am amazed at how little thought some people put into their hides, but I am also amazed at how many never even bother to place a hide at all.

I don't think it's hypocritical at all. By the time we had 10 finds we could see the difference between the crappy lamp post micros and a well thought out hide in a unique location.
There are a lot of people that like those simple caches but for the most part, it's to boost their numbers and not to experience new and exciting locations.

Whilst I agree, it smacks a little hypocrytical of someone who has never bothered to place a cache for others.
